DataStory Studio · Last updated 23 August 2026
DataStory Studio turns a table of numbers into an animated bar chart race you can upload to YouTube, Shorts, Reels or TikTok. Everything happens on your device — there is no account to make and nothing to sign in to.

Common questions
Where do my videos go?
Every export lands in the Exports tab. Tap one to play it, or use the share button to save it to Photos, AirDrop it, or send it to another app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Can I use these videos on my own channel?
Yes. Videos you make are yours, including monetised uploads. The music is part of the app and carries no licence obligations — every loop was synthesised from scratch rather than sampled, so there is no rights holder to clear and nothing for Content ID to match.
Please keep the source credit visible on charts built from the bundled stories. The organisations that publish those figures deserve the attribution, and viewers deserve to know where a number came from.
Where does the data come from?
Each story names its source on the chart itself and in the info panel — the World Bank, the IMF, SIPRI, the American Enterprise Institute and others. Nothing is projected: a story stops at the last year its source has actually confirmed, which is why a chart made in 2026 may end in 2025.
Can I use my own numbers?
Yes. The Create tab imports a CSV or lets you type a table by hand. Your data stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Why does my chart stop before this year?
Because the source has not published that year yet. Annual government and research statistics usually run about a year behind — SIPRI's military spending figures for a given year arrive the following April, for instance. The app shows the latest confirmed year rather than guessing at the current one.
New stories are not appearing
Pull down on the Stories screen, or use Check for updates in Settings. The app only reaches the network when you ask it to — there is no automatic check on launch. If it still finds nothing, you already have the latest set.
The export failed, or the video has no sound
Rendering continues while you use other parts of the app, and the progress bar sits at the bottom of the screen. If a render fails, the app says so rather than handing you a broken file. If a video comes out silent, the video itself is fine and only the soundtrack stage failed — please email us, as that is a bug we want to see.
4K exports are slow or run out of memory
4K is roughly four times the work of 1080p. On older devices, exporting at 1080p is the reliable choice — it is also what most people upload, and YouTube re-encodes either way.
What are points, and why is there an ad?
The app is free, and exporting a video spends points. You can top up your balance at any time by watching a short rewarded video ad — it is always your choice, and nothing plays on its own. The ads are how the app pays for itself. What advertising does and does not collect is covered in the Privacy Policy; you are asked for your consent before any ad loads, and you can change that choice later in the app's privacy options.
Reporting a problem
The most useful report says what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. If it involves a specific story or an exported video, naming it helps. Screenshots help more.
